Cougs win in Willo's 300th behind their 'Shield'

Seniors

A 6 goal best on ground performance from one of the newest Cougars in Cam Shield steals the show as the boys were able to make light work on Nunawading.

Following up after a horrific performance against Forest Hill the previous week. Coldstream returned home to take on Nunawading who were yet to win a game. The focus of the afternoon was for the boys to get back to their structures and lift the intensity at and around the footy. After a lacklustre first 15 minutes that saw the visitors jump out to a shock lead the Cougars slowly took back control. The first half of the quarter saw only one goal but after McCarthy kicked one home the floodgates seemingly burst open, 11 of the next 12 goals were kicked in a hurry as they boys burst out to a 65 point lead at the main break. Mitchell Edmonds return was potent as he provided a reliable source down forward with two first quarter goals.

After half time the boys thought that the game was already over and played one of the worst quarters that the club had seen in recent years. An all in brawl was the only time all quarter that the boys decided to show a bit of intensity which was symbolic of the performance that was on display. Down back stall worth Rodney Williams was playing his heart out in his 300th game.

After a rev up by both captain and coach the boys came out in the fourth quarter with something to prove and it Cam Shield who really turned it on with his sensational work rate around the ground. 4 last term goals to add to his 2 first quarter goals gave him best on ground honours just out doing Liam Koger who was a rock down back as the boys ran out 117 point victors.
